Brodie and Flett impress in 4-0 win over Red Deer
Broncos win fifth game in a row and sit in second place in the south
On Sunday afternoon at Tiny Lafleur Field in Carstairs the Olds College Broncos (5-1-1) picked up their fifth win in a row, this time at the mercy of the Red Deer College Queens (1-3-3) by a score of 4-0.
Rachel Brodie continued her great season scoring two goals to give her eight on the season while Jamie Flett, who scored four on Saturday vs. Lakeland, scored the game winning goal in the contest.
Flett's goal came 31 minutes into the game. Rachel Brodie chased a passed ball into the left corner before sending a hard cross towards the net. Leaping laterally off her feet head first, with seemingly no regard for the impact that was about to come afterward, Flett headed the cross into the far side of the net for one of the prettiest goals of her ACAC career.
It would take just seven minutes until Brodie got on the board herself. After being turned away on three earlier breakaways, the ball came to towards Brodie off a corner kick. Elevating her leg parallel to her waste, Brodie launched a rocket of a shot into the net to increase her goal scoring streak to five games.
Brodie would add another in the second half, followed by another goal scored by Cassidy Brown, who made a nice little dangle around the keeper, to give the Broncos a much needed 4-0 win.
Following the game Jessie Flett was given player of the game honours from the Broncos for her tremendous defensive play and ball moving ability on Sunday afternoon. Reesa Garez was given player of the game for the visiting Queens.
Both teams will have a bye next weekend to celebrate Thanksgiving before returning to action on the 14th when the Broncos host SAIT and the Queens host Medicine Hat.
