Bio
A native of Halkirk, Alta., Matt McKnight joined the Broncos in August 2022 after a 14-year professional playing career, including the past 11 seasons in Germany and the last nine with the Biegitheim Steelers.
While in Germany, McKnight was part of three DEL-2 championship teams (2014-15, 2017-18, 2020-21), and was named DEL-2 Player of the Year for the 2018-19 season.
Prior to playing overseas, McKnight was drafted by the Dallas Stars in 2004, then played four seasons of NCAA D1 hockey for the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs, serving as team captain for his final two seasons. From there, he played three seasons for the Idaho Steelheads in the East Coast Hockey League.
