Welcome Back Broncos!
As classes get underway, so does the action in Broncos Athletics — and September is shaping up to be an exciting month.
The Broncos soccer home opener takes place on Saturday, Sept. 13 at Pioneer Field against Ambrose University. The women’s soccer game kicks off at 12 p.m., followed by the men’s soccer team at 2:15 p.m. To celebrate, the Broncos are hosting “Back to School with the Broncos,” a family-friendly event featuring games, activities and appearances by all Broncos teams as they come out to support the soccer squads.
Join us in welcoming our soccer teams into the season, get yourself a hot dog cooked by the Broncos, and get your cheering on! More soccer action at home follows on Sept. 21 against Red Deer Polytechnic and Sept. 28 against SAIT.
Practices across all sports are in full swing and athletes are hitting the ground running. Broncos women’s basketball team tips off preseason play at home in the Ralph Klein Centre on Sept. 8 against a local club team. The men’s basketball team follows with its preseason home debut on Sept. 16, also against a local club.
The women’s hockey team returns to preseason play on Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. against the Central Alberta Amazons. They are back on home ice again on Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. to face the Red Deer U18 AAA squad, and on Sept. 27 at 2 p.m. against Medicine Hat College.
Men’s volleyball will take the court in a feature match during the OHS Volleyball Tournament on Sept. 26 — an early-season preview of what’s to come from the court sports teams this year.
Looking ahead, fans are encouraged to mark their calendars for court sport home openers beginning in October, as well as the Broncos Home Rodeo, taking place Oct. 25. That same evening, country music artist Gord Bamford will perform a concert in support of Broncos Athletics. Check out our yearly calendar to get information on all your Broncos home games!
The energy is high, and the Broncos are setting the tone for a strong, positive and community-driven year. Fans are encouraged to get loud, wear blue and show up to support their Broncos!
