Broncos drop defensive tilt 1-0 to Queens in OT
OLDS- on November 16 the Red Deer College Queens (6-3-2) defeated the Olds College Broncos (4-6-1) 1-0 on an overtime goal from ACAC goal and point leader Jade Petrie.

The first two frames were evenly played, with the best chance for the Queens coming on a shorthanded breakaway, brilliantly turned aside by Jaydlin Spooner with the right pad.

Meanwhile Dana Hauck made a great play in the second, breaking up a clearing attempt before giving a teammate in front a beautiful feed, turned aside by Tracie Kikuchi.

The play of Kikuchi and Spooner was the story for the entire game, each turning away chances as the two clubs went back and fourth throughout the third period.

The Broncos had a great chance to take the lead late in the third after a tripping penalty on Tori Chenier led to a 5 on 3 for the home squad.

A tip in front on the powerplay was as close as the Broncos would come, as Holt's chance dinged off the crossbar, and the Queens cleared the puck away.

With two minutes left in the extra frame, Petrie made a move around a defender and deked an already down Spooner. With the top half of the net revealed, Petrie raised the puck into the top corner to give her team a five point cushion on the Broncos in the standings.

The two teams will meet again on Saturday evening in Red Deer at 7 P.M.
