November 7 2009: The lady Broncos saw a very busy weekend starting Friday night with our home opener vs Ambrose Lions. The girls fought to the end winning the match 3-2. Saturday the Bronocs travelled to Lac le Biche to meet up with Augustana, the 2nd place team in the league. Augustana forced the girls again to 5 games with the Broncos coming out on top 3-2. The final game of the day was against host school Portage where the ladies won 3-0.

A very successful weekend moving the Broncos from 5th place to 3rd place in league standings. The success was due to the heart and determination of the entire team. All the players had a hand in the weekend. Outside hitter Shayla Sandum leads the team with kills and is currently 3rd in ACAL league kills. Middle Emily Tilleman threw up block after block all weekend. Right side Melissa Carritt’s aggressive serving and big kills and setter Meaghan Laderoute helped lead a quick and aggressive offence. Running a successful defensive in the back row was Kelsey Sim that allowed our offensive a chance to work. Returning from illness was Kylie Waite, with aggressive serves and kills from the leftside.

The girls are facing our last week of league play this week: Monday against Prairie and Tuesday against CUC. The weekend will see action against St. Mary’s on Friday and Saturday will see the Lady Broncos against Portage and the 1st ranked team in the league Concordia. All games will be hosted by the Olds College Broncos.
