Olds College Broncos Welcome Kevin Graham PDF Print E-mail

The Olds College Broncos are pleased to announce Kevin Graham as their second men's team Head Coach. Kevin was the Head Assistant to Coach Murray on the first team in the 2009-2010 season and is well prepared to take the reins to lead the second team as head coach this year. "We are excited to have Kevin move into this position to take our second team to another level. His experience with our teams in the past will only add to our program and its development" said Coach Murray.

Coach Graham takes on the responsibilities of an upstart team who surprised the ACAL by taking a bronze medal last year in the Championships. "We look forward to Coach Grahams continued efforts to develop our basketball offerings and we are thrilled to have him move into this role on our campus" said Reg Carrick, Broncos Athletics Programmer. The second team will play a series of exhibition games in the fall including ACAC games in September and October, with the ACAL regular season scheduled from December to March, 2011.

The 2010-11 Season will be one for the history books as the Broncos Men's basketball teams take another step toward the ACAC. The ACAC pre-season schedule for both teams will see them play in tournaments at ACAC stops at Keyano College, King's University College and Lakeland College.

"We think this will be the best schedule we have had for ACAC exhibition play ever, and we hope to demonstrate we are ready to be right there with these teams", said Head Coach Bob Murray. "We have had a great off season of recruiting, securing 1A-3A all stars from all over Alberta, Sasktachewan and British Columbia for our teams" Coach Murray noted all the recent press releases that have come out for the new freshmen group and knows there will be a learning curve. "We expect to take the right steps and know these athletes are young, but they come from strong programs so we anticipate the adaptation to be quick".

The Broncos have just recently signed a 2A all star from Oliver (SOSS) in the South Okanagan of British Columbia. "Jordan Thomson will be a strong force for us. Next to Jas Gill, Jordan was the best player at the 2008-2009 Provincials, scoring 20 points in the final" Thomson took a year off to work, but when speaking with Coach Murray was excited to play with Olds in Alberta."Jordan is looking forward to being here and we can't wait to see him in the Gold and Black".

The Broncos will start their year on the first week of school with their open try outs and then a team camp on the first weekend of school. The first weekend of play will be the last weekend in September.
