Broncos Women's Volleyball earn first national ranking

Olds College Broncos women's volleyball reached a historic milestone on Tuesday with the release of the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) national rankings.

The Broncos sit in the #4 spot, recognized among the country's top 15 programs for the first time since the institution's return to ACAC competition in 2012.

Currently at 4-0 in regular season play, OC picked up wins during their first two weekends of competition against Medicine Hat College and Lethbridge College.

The pre season campaign was also successful, earning wins over NAIT, TKUC, Keyano and last year's ACAC and CCAA silver medalist team from Grande Prairie Regional College.

This summer, Broncos head coach Chris Wandler brought in a strong recruiting class to join an already solid core of returning players. OC gears up to host the 2015 ACAC Women's Volleyball Championships in late February.

The group of veterans are highly motivated to improve on a pair of sixth place finishes at the previous two ACAC Conference Championships.

The Broncos have two big tests this month when they play the Red Deer College Queens (CCAA #1) and Briercrest Clippers (CCAA #8) in consecutive weekends to close out the first semester.
